Instructions for use of the drug Zenkor on potatoes

Instructions for use of the drug Zenkor on potatoes

It is not easy to choose the right one among the many existing herbicides. This is Zenkor, a chemical that is safe for humans and contains metribuzin. It has a selective effect, that is, it is deadly for weeds, but harmless for potatoes and other crops. Consider the order of instructions for using the herbicide.

Instructions for use

The application of the drug is carried out any hand spray... It is possible, but not necessary, to protect the respiratory tract from entering.

Zenkor is easy to use, as it does not require special preparation of potato root crops before processing. Planting takes place in the usual way - preparing the soil, cutting furrows and planting tubers.

Reusable use of the drug during one garden season, which takes place in several stages, is allowed and encouraged.

Pre-emergence treatment

The first stage of processing should take place 2-3 days before potato shoots. At this time, dicotyledonous weeds should have already germinated, the height of the shoots should be at least 2 cm.

The dosage of the chemical directly depends on the quality of the soil, we try to adhere to the following recommendations:

  • Light soil (black earth) - up to 0.6 l / hectare.
  • Medium soil (podzolic) - up to 0.75 l / hectare.
  • Heavy soil (clayey) - up to 1.2 l / hectare.

The efficiency of treatment with Zencor is positively affected by soil moisture. It is good if it rains a few hours before watering.

Immediately after application of Zenkora, a thin protective film forms on the soil surface. It additionally prevents the germination of new shoots of weeds, it is recommended to keep it as long as possible.

It's better for this refrain from loosening the soil and sprinkling (watering from a hose).

Post-emergence treatment

This stage can be started approximately 2 weeks after the first. It is more convenient to focus on the height of potato sprouts - the plants should reach at least 5 cm.The consumption of the chemical is less than at the stage of pre-emergence treatment:

  • Light soil (black soil) - up to 0.5 l / hectare.
  • Average soil (podzolic) - up to 0.6 l / hectare.
  • Heavy soil (clay) - up to 0.8 l / hectare.

It is strictly forbidden to process potatoes with Zenkor during the day, while the sun is at its zenith.

Important properly maintain the term of the second treatment... The action of the drug should continue until the time when the rows of tops are completely closed, which will complicate the development of the second wave of weeds.

How to prepare the mixture

To prepare a mixture based on a chemical in the form of granules, you need to add 15 grams of powder to 5 liters of water, and complete dissolution occurs in 30 minutes. For the liquid variety, the consumption is 7-11 ml per 5 liters of water.

It is not worth buying a herbicide with a reserve - the shelf life of Zenkora from the date of release is 3 years. Try to store in its original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 40 ° C.

The drug needs dosingwhich depends on the nature of the soil... The easiest way to carry out dosing at the watering stage is to prepare the mixture according to the given recipe, but adjust the amount of chemical used when processing the soil.

The approximate consumption of Zenkora, depending on the soil, is given below.

Early potato varieties

Zenkor can be used on all potato varieties without exception. However, for processing plantings of early and super-early varieties, it is necessary to carefully approach the dosage of the chemical.

Completely refuse pre-emergence treatment recommended in the case of cultivation of the following varieties:

  • Alyona.
  • Ariel.
  • Riviera.
  • Bellarosa.
  • Lark.
  • Karatop.

It is extremely rare, however, there are cases of slowing down of photosynthesis of potato sprouts after they are watered with herbicide. In this case, the disease is observed in the form of mild chlorosis, the color of the leaves slows down, the plant develops more slowly.

Crops on light, sandy soils are most at risk.

What is Zenkor herbicide

Zenkor - chemical preparation for the control of dicotyledonous broadleaf and annual cereal weeds... Refers to herbicides of selective, that is, selective action - does not harm cultivated plants.

Due to its relatively low cost, it is especially widely used for cultivating soil for planting potatoes, but it can also be used for cultivating soil for tomatoes, carrots and other crops.

Zencor is based on metribuzin, a widely used active ingredient in a variety of fertilizers. It has a long-lasting effect, as it dissolves extremely slowly in water, it remains in the ground for up to 3 months.

Completely safe for insects, including bees. The element saturation of Zenkora is very high:

  • In liquid form - 600 g / l;
  • In granules - 700g / kg.

It is important that pest plants do not develop resistance to metribuzin, so that its effectiveness remains at the same level every season.

Operating principle

The effectiveness of the herbicide is high due to its complex influence on weeds - both through the leaves of plants (interferes with photosynthesis), and on sprouts that have not yet emerged in the soil.

Re-germination is also prevented by the film appearing on the surface of the earth, which remains under favorable conditions for up to 2 weeks.

In the case of monocotyledonous weeds, you need to focus on the development of sprouts. This can be determined by eye - during the first soil cultivation, harmful plants should be in the vegetative stage of development, have a couple of formed leaves.

The soil in the garden must be settled - the penetration of the herbicide into the soil is harmful, since it prevents the formation of a film on the surface.

Zenkor compares favorably with other herbicides in ease of use. All varieties have the following advantages:

  • No preliminary dissolution is necessary.
  • Effective consumption.
  • Sprayer filters stay clean.
  • Complete dissolution of granules without sediment.
  • No strong chemical smell.
  • Convenient to dose.
  • Liquid variety is a good base for the manufacture of tank mix.

The chemical is completely safe for health. Complications with direct contact are extremely rare. If they occur, it is recommended to seek medical attention.

Unfortunately, the drug is not without its drawbacks. These include the ineffectiveness of the agent on some types of soils, for example, on light soils, the humus saturation of which is less than 2%.

Also Zenkor is not suitable for beds operating on the principle of circular crop rotation with a change of crops every season. Reason - incompatibility of the chemical with some garden plants, eg:

  • Onions, lettuce, garlic.
  • Peppers.
  • All types of cabbage.
  • All types of melons.
  • Beet.
  • Rape.

In addition, the disposal of the remnants of Zenkora or containers from it requires compliance with a number of conditions:

  • It is necessary to construct an underground burial in a remote location.
  • It is forbidden to make burials near water bodies.

Types of Zenkar

The drug has been used by gardeners in many countries for a long time, its effectiveness has been widely recognized.

A common chemical in the past Zenkor WG 70 was produced in the form of granular powder.

The outdated form of Zenkora release was replaced by new ones. To date, new types have spread - Zenkor Ultra and Liquid... Their difference is in an improved composition.

The formulation is different - both products are available in the form of a powder or a liquid suspension concentrate. The latter has the following advantages over powder:

  • Shorter dilution process.
  • Improved solution stability.
  • The absence of any sediment in the container.

The composition of chemicals, depending on their subspecies, does not differ in any way, as well as their effectiveness. Supplied Zenkor in various containers:

  • Powder bags - 20 g.
  • Vials - up to 100 ml.
  • Tanks - up to 5 liters.

Large-capacity packages are used for processing large farms, small ones - for households.

Compatibility with other products

Zenkor is successfully used in the preparation of mixtures with the addition of a pesticide. However, it is not compatible with some types of fertilizers, it is helpful to remember the following tips:

  • Prohibited apply the herbicide together with any nitrogen fertilizer.
  • Mix carefully with insecticides.
  • When mixed with sulfonylurea, the special order of adding ingredients - Zenkor is kneaded last and into the already infused mixture.

It is recommended to use the drug in conjunction with the manufacturer's products.

Zenkor can be successfully applied in all climatic conditions and on most soils. Its value for money makes it one of the most effective herbicides available.

Description, rules and features of the use of herbicide Zenkor

In agriculture, weeds have to be dealt with more efficiently than weeding. In this case, herbicides come to the rescue. They help to destroy even the strongest weeds, leaving nutrients in the soil, moisture and light for cultivated plants. Among the drugs in this group, the herbicide Zenkor stands out.

It is a simple product with a wide spectrum of action that allows you to etch out almost any plant parasite.

Composition and existing forms of release

The tool belongs to the group of systemic herbicides. The tool is designed to fight both dicotyledonous and annual weeds. It is effective due to the active ingredient called metribuzin. The action of the drug is achieved by suppressing the process of photosynthesis in weed cells.

Manufacturers produce Zenkor in 3 types:

  • small instant granules
  • concentrated emulsion
  • dry powder.

The emulsion is sold in glass bottles of 20 or 100 ml. The product, made in dry form (powder and granules), is packed in small sachets of 20 g or large containers of 20 kg.

Application features and dosage

The dosage of different Zenkar modifications is the same. It depends on the method of application of the product and the characteristics of the soil.

If a single treatment of the site is supposed before the emergence of potato shoots, then prepare a solution in the proportion of 8-16 ml of herbicide per 2-3 liters of water (per 1 hundred square meters). The heavier the soil, the higher the concentration of the working solution. However, the manufacturer does not recommend using the maximum dose of the drug.

But the most effective processing is in two stages:

2-3 days before the emergence of potatoes. To spray one hundred parts in 3 liters of water, dissolve:

  • up to 6 ml of herbicide - for black soil
  • up to 7.5 ml - for podzolic soil
  • up to 12 ml - for clay soil.

Approximately 2 weeks after the initial treatment, but before the potato shoots become higher than 5 cm.One hundred square meters will require:

  • up to 5 ml of herbicide - for black soil
  • up to 6 ml - for podzolic soil
  • up to 8 ml - for clay soil.

The solution of the drug must be used immediately after preparation, it cannot be stored. The effect of "Zenkora" is enhanced if the loosened soil is sprayed 3-4 hours after a light rain. Processing is carried out in the morning or evening, in calm weather. But if it rains after spraying, the action of the product will slow down and the weeds will die longer.

Restrictions on the use of the drug:

  • Zenkor is prohibited to use in hotbeds and greenhouses
  • the herbicide should not be sprayed if the potato shoots are hit by frost or have suffered from drought
  • do not spray potato sprouts taller than 5 cm
  • before using the product, you need to find out how the potato variety reacts to it. When processing a plantation with potatoes especially sensitive to metribuzin, the concentration of the solution is reduced to a minimum
  • "Zenkor" is assigned to the III class of danger for humans and IV - for bees. It has low toxicity to humans, but toxic to fish and bees. Limitation of flight of bees - 6-9 hours.

The soil is pre-leveled by breaking lumps. The drug is diluted with water in the recommended amount. It is best to spray it with a special tool. It is important to achieve an even application.

The drug should saturate the ground by at least two centimeters. When carrying out pre-emergence treatment, the rate of the drug is selected, taking into account the composition of the soil. For lungs, use the minimum recommended dose, for heavy - the maximum. This ensures the most effective effect of Zenkor Ultra.

The instructions for use, as you can see, describe only a few simple steps, however, some rules should still be followed when processing the site. For example, in rainy weather, the amount of the drug should be slightly reduced. The optimal application temperature is considered to be 10-20 g. The seedling treatment is best done 4 hours before the rain.

Selective systemic herbicide for the control of annual dicotyledonous and cereal weeds

  • Manufacturability of application according to the terms and norms: the possibility of application before and after germination of crops and weeds
  • Manufacturability of the drug in terms of spectrum of action and method of penetration:
    • - effective against the most important broadleaf and cereal weeds
    • - metribuzin is easily absorbed by the roots and seedlings of plants, but it can also penetrate through the leaf surface
  • Manufacturability in the preparation of tank mixtures with other herbicides: it is the basis for the preparation of tank mixtures with other herbicides to enhance the spectrum of action
  • Manufacturability in the duration of the period of protective action: suppression of weeds up to the closure of the tops in rows
  • Manufacturability of chemical weeding before mechanical weeding: no damage to underground and aboveground parts of the culture and the likelihood of the spread of mechanically transmitted viruses

Metribuzin is easily absorbed by the roots and seedlings of plants, but it can also penetrate through the leaf surface. Moves acropetally. The mechanism of action is based on inhibition of the transport of electrons involved in the process of photosynthesis (photosystem II).

Protective period

Since Zenkor effectively suppresses weed seedlings in the soil, its application allows you to postpone the appearance of the second “wave” of weeds. The herbicide ensures the cleanliness of crops from weeds for a period of 1-2 months or more, depending on weather conditions during the growing season and soil type.

The herbicide destroys weeds at the time of their germination (with pre-emergence application) or within 10-20 days with post-emergence application.

Subject to the application regulations, in the overwhelming majority of cases, it does not show signs of phytotoxicity. After the treatment on potatoes, a temporary weakening of the intensity of the green color of the leaves is sometimes observed; usually, closer to the edge of the leaf, the changed color can vary from light green to yellowish. The traits described are extremely rare and are usually associated with extreme weather conditions during the treatment period for overgrown plants. Signs of depression can appear against the background of a violation of the processing schedule and, as a rule, disappear within 10-14 days after treatment. This does not affect the yield of the crop.

Zenkor® destroys many types of annual dicotyledonous and some cereal weeds. Potatoes, sowing and seedling tomatoes show resistance to the drug in the recommended usage regulations. Individual crops (for example, early maturing potato varieties) show differences in varietal resistance.

To expand the spectrum of action and reduce consumption rates, it is permissible to use Zenkor® in tank mixtures with other pesticides. Before use, it is necessary to check the mixture for compatibility and phytotoxicity in relation to the treated culture.

How much and to whom: consumption rates of Zenkor ®

The consumption rate of the drug on potatoes depends on the type of soil. On light soils, 5 ml per 1 hundred square meters is enough, and on heavy soils - up to 11 ml. The consumption rate of the drug should be diluted in 5 liters of water. This working solution is sufficient for processing 1 hundred square meters of potatoes or vegetables.

To ensure the cleanliness of the crops until the very summer, it is necessary that the herbicide film after spraying is not destroyed during inter-row tillage.

The drug demonstrates good results only if it is used correctly: overdose should be avoided, and also make sure that neighboring sensitive crops (for example, grapes, rapeseed, cabbage) do not come into contact with the solution or fog of Zenkor ® Liquid, which is applied to the garden.

Zenkor ® Liquid must not be used in greenhouses and hotbeds, as it can cause phytotoxicity of cultivated plants.
